Over the past two years, I’ve truly come to appreciate the importance of moving my body with intention. Every rep, every session is focused on building strength—not just physically,
Back in my teens and early twenties, I didn’t have half the knowledge I do now about training. My motivation then was mostly about aesthetics.
Today, it’s about everything—my health, my energy, my mindset—and that deeper purpose is what drives me.
Coming from a Filipino background, body image was always a hot topic. You’d hear things like, “Wow, you look great,” or “You’re looking healthy”—but also, “You look taba ching ching,” which is just a backhanded way of saying you’ve gained weight. I was never that thin, fragile girl. I played sports, I enjoyed food, and I was built curvy and strong. But those comments stuck with me.
One in particular—just three months after having my first child—was, “Wow, your tummy is still fat.” It stung. But I realized it said more about their own insecurities than it did about me.
Motherhood and aging change us. Our bodies shift, our hormones go haywire, cravings hit hard, and self-care often gets put on the back burner.
After three high-risk pregnancies and three C-sections, I was uncomfortable in my clothes, unhappy in my skin, and on blood pressure meds. That’s when I said, enough. I want to live long. I want to be present and healthy for my kids. Something had to change.
So I made that change—physically, mentally, and internally. And I didn’t do it alone. Supportive family and friends helped me stay committed. Their encouragement fueled my progress.
The truth is, people will always have something to say. Whether you’re struggling or thriving, there will always be critics.
Let them talk. What matters most is how you feel and who’s truly in your corner. Keep the VIPs close—those who uplift, support, and love you through it all.
Starting is hard. Staying consistent and dedicated is harder. But with the right mindset and a solid support system, nothing can stop you! 👊
Let's get fit together!
